Photo Walk Class
Class - Fall Only | Registration opens Saturday, August 29, 2026 9:30 AM MDT
Join us for twice-monthly, Saturday morning photo walks to familiarize yourself with your digital camera! The photo walks will allow participants to perform the camera operations in the field using aperture, shutter speed and ISO to create better photographs. The class is geared toward beginning photographers who currently use their cameras only in the auto mode to take pictures. Students will learn how to stop or blur action, how to change depth of field and composition. Students are responsible for their own transportation. Instructor will communicate meeting locations via email.
Twice-monthly photo walks in downtown and surrounding areas on 10/10, 10/24, 11/7, 11/21, 12/5, 12/19.
Matthew Asai
Matthew has been an avid photographer since 1972. He has extensive experience shooting weddings, landscapes and portraits. As a volunteer Virginia State Park photographer, he photographed eighteen state parks and taught seminars at several of the state parks. His work has been published in a number of Virginia publications. He taught Digital Photography for the Stafford Parks and Recreation Department, in Stafford County, VA. Matthew was the Co-organizer and later organizer for the Fredericksburg, VA Fresh Start Photography Group and is a current member of Color Country Camera Club. He is also an avid skier and has been leading the ICL Ski Club for several years.
