Shorts: The Intelligence of Living Things
Class - Spring Only | Registration opens Monday, January 5, 2026 9:30 AM MST
"Only humans use tools.”
"Only humans can plan.”
“Only humans understand others’ intentions.”
“Only humans have emotions and can feel pain.”
“Only humans are conscious.”
These arrogant claims have been challenged if not completely debunked. We’ll share examples of even spiders planning. We’ll see that bees can do arithmetic. We’ll find that animal communication is more complex than we thought - even demonstrating grammatical structure. We’ll find even trees communicate, remember and learn.
This is a 2-session class on 2/19 and 2/26, designed to be fun yet informative.
