The Dignity Index

Workshop | Registration opens Monday, January 5, 2026 9:30 AM MST

This class will explore the Dignity Index, a tool that measures the level of dignity or contempt in public and political speech. Using an eight-point scale, the Dignity Index helps us recognize how language can either divide or connect us. Together, we’ll examine real examples of communication and practice applying these principles in our own writing and personal interactions. Through discussion, reflection, and simple writing exercises, we’ll discover how our words can foster greater understanding, respect, and connection in everyday life.

Co-presenters: Cynthia-Holman Schmidt, Susan Ann Stauffer and Tiffany Wynn.
