Women and War
Class - Fall Only | FULL (Membership Required)
This class will cover the history of women's impacts and involvements during wars from Ancient Women Warriors through the Middle Ages to the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, the Vietnam War, and military conflicts today. Topics include medical and military assignments, as well as emotional and entertainment support services such as USO, Gold Star Mothers, Red Cross, Resistance Fighters, and even spies, as well as the women who dealt with demands on the home front. This class recognizes the ultimate sacrifices generally made by men but also explores how women have been essential and important to the outcomes of wars and military conflicts.

Silvia Mangen
Silvia Mangen has Bachelor's and Graduate degrees in education, school psychology, child psychology, and an administrative certificate (St. Cloud State University (MN), University of Minnesota, and University of Montana). She has worked as a teacher, school psychologist, and director of special education cooperative. Silvia has also taught classes on poetry for ICL, as well as her course, Banning Books & Other Forms of Expression.
