Exploring Our Region: Day Trips In and Around St. George

Class - Fall Only | Available (Membership Required)

This 4-week course will explore things to see and do in St. George, Utah and surrounding areas. We will cover opportunities in St. George, central and southwestern Utah, southeastern Nevada, and northwestern Arizona. Included in the course are St. George, Kanab, Page, Mesquite, and Cedar City areas. The course will also include some history and geology and insider tips for exploring the best of each areaAnd it will include recommended driving routes and what to see along each route. 

NO CLASS ON NOV. 26th.

Fall schedule:

November 5 – Explore opportunities in and around St. George and Cedar City, Utah (dinosaur tracks, petroglyphs, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Frontier State Park, museums, and recreation areas, etc.)

November 12 – Explore routes and places around Mesquite and Las Vegas, Nevada (Gold Butte National Monument, Valley of Fire State Park, Lost City Museum, Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area (NCA), Red Rock NCA, etc.)

November 19 – Explore routes and places in and around Page, Arizona (Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Navajo National Monument, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, House Rock Valley, Jacob Lake, Baaj Nwaavjo National Monument, etc.)

December 3 – Explore Scenic Byway 12, the All-American Road (Bryce Canyon National Park, Anasazi State Park, Capitol Reef National Park, Boulder Mountain, etc.)

Diana Hawks

Diana Hawks has an associate's degree in Geology and a BS and MA in Prehistoric Archaeology. She worked as an archaeologist beginning in 1975, including private companies and the Bureau of Land Management for 27 years. In retirement she works part-time for Road Scholar as an educator on bus tours to the national and state parks of southern Utah and northern Arizona.
