Native American Flute - Intermediate

This is a fun, interactive class that will focus on embellishments, duets, musical conversations, composition, and playing with background rhythms, backing tracks and along with recording artists. Prerequisite: fluency in playing the scale; bring your own Am Native flute.
This is a 6-week course.
Nancy Haga
Nancy Haga is a retired master level Teacher of the Deaf, whose passion is teaching others to play the Native flute. She has played, performed, and taught the Native flute for 15 years. Nancy was the Creator and Director of the Solstice Flute School, the largest school in the country, based in Prescott, Arizona.
Nancy holds an M.Ed from the University of Virginia and taught deaf children for 13 years. In addition to various corporate positions, she has taught Reading on the Pima Indian reservation in Phoenix, volunteered at the Elder Center on the Mescalero Apache reservation in New Mexico, and taught English with Global Volunteers in Romania and Portugal.
Rodger Heard
Rodger has been a member of the Zion's Flute Circle for 6 years. He's trained with Rona Yellowrobe, Bob Reese, Carl Rich and many others. He has a great background in the ceremonial origins of the Native American Flute and sees it as a Spiritual instrument in nature. He adds alternate styles of music and accompaniments to the musical diversity of the course.
