Living Religion: Faith & Practice in the Modern World (ZOOM)
Class Continues: Spring | This course is completed
This course explores how we develop meaning and purpose in our lives through the intersection of religion, faith and science. Last Fall, we explored how major religions in St. George informed the everyday lives of various invited speakers. This semester, we dive deep into just the dominant western religion, Christianity. The beliefs and traditions of various denominations might appear paradoxical, but understanding their nuances with the help of more guest presenters can uncover inconsistencies in our own beliefs and attitudes toward those with different convictions.

Hans de Haan
Hans is a retired physician, pharmacologist and psychologist. He is Clerk of Southern Utah Friends (Quakers) Meeting and a member of the St George Interfaith Council. He has enjoyed a lifetime fascination with religious faiths and traditions. His new course "Life: An Inconvenient Truth" follows his prior classes exploring which beliefs we hold dear and those which it’s time to release. He moderates, rather than instructs, the exploration of themes important for enriching our “golden years”, even when we might be content with what we already know.
