Archaeology of Mesoamerica (ZOOM)

Introduction to Mesoamerican Archaeology is a broad introduction to the archaeology, civilizations and indigenous peoples of Middle America (Mesoamerica) including central and southern Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The course objectives are:
1) Introduce students to the geography, archaeology, and major archaeological civilizations and sites of Central America.
2) Provide students with an appreciation of the broad range of human adaptation leading to civilization in Mesoamerica.
3) Provide students a better understanding of the archaeology of the area and enduring cultures that survive there today.
This is a 7-week course.

Diana Hawks
Diana Hawks has an associate's degree in Geology and a BS and MA in Prehistoric Archaeology. She worked as an archaeologist beginning in 1975, including private companies and the Bureau of Land Management for 27 years. In retirement she works part-time for Road Scholar as an educator on bus tours to the national and state parks of southern Utah and northern Arizona.
