Southwest Archaeology - An Introduction

Class - Spring Only | This course is completed

The Introduction to Southwestern Archaeology course focuses on Southwestern Utah and Northwestern Arizona. The course will use Powerpoint Presentations and discussions to cover the prehistory and history of the local area including the Paleoindian, Archaic, Formative (Ancestral Puebloan and Fremont cultures), Protohistoric and Historic periods. The class will include information on the native tribes in the area today and local opportunities for volunteer archaeological work.

This is an 8-week course.

Diana Hawks holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in Archaeology from Brigham Young University. She worked in Chiapas and Yucatan, Mexico and Guatemala as an archaeologist in the 1970s and 1980s.
