Stephany Blyn Jacobs
Stefany Blyn, Artist and Teacher Stefany Blyn has worked as a painter in the Harlem area and New Jersey for more than fifty years. After receiving her Master's degree in Fine Arts from Columbia University, Stefany worked as a graphic artist in publishing and advertising, and as an instructor of drawing, painting, and 2-D design at Virginia Commonwealth University, Princeton University, The Newark School of Fine and Industrial arts, East Carolina University, and Middlesex County College. She is currently an adjunct professor at Nassau Community College where she has taught since 2001. She was early acquainted with the magical presence of art, having grown up in the vicinity of The Barnes Foundation in Merion, Pennsylvania, and having been taken by her parents to the capitals of Europe and on extended tour of India. She studied weekly at The Moore college of Art until she was admitted as a full-time student at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts at the age of 17. After receiving her professional certificate and The Toppan Prize for Drawing, she went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University. Her work has been exhibited in many states across the country including California, Louisiana, Missouri, New York, Texas and Virginia. Her large pastel, “The Painter’s Trip” won an honorable mention at the Juried exhibition entitled “Light Effects.” She conducted pastel workshops for the Teen Arts Festival at MCC for many years. Ms. Blyn sketches extensively in pastel and colored pencil and also paints her subjects on a commission basis, as seen below.
