Memories in the Making: Slab-Built Vessels

TD-Workshop | Registration opens Monday, November 9, 2026 10:00 AM EST

***This is a 2-day workshop. Meets: Saturday, May 8th 12-4pm in room 7 and Saturday, May 22, 12-2 pm in room 4B***

Bring your stories! Make slab-built vessels to celebrate our favorite memories. Using stained slips, underglazes, and hand-building tools, learn to layer color, stenciling, and texture to create fun, functional vases about laughter and love. Your work will spark conversations for years to come.

  • Students purchase clay at class $25. All other supplies will be provided; students are welcome to bring additional texture tools, cone 6 underglazes, and colored slips.

LeAnn Siefferman-Busdeker

Artist Bio 2026

LeAnn Siefferman is a clay artist living in Orlando, FL. Her playful, colorful works are sketches of feelings, memories and identity. She explores what it might mean if we could build joy that lasts. What do you want to remember, what do you want to repair? Clay lets us make these decisions for ourselves and decide what stories we keep as we define ourselves anew with each curious vessel we make.

LeAnn has been awarded three Ceramics Fellowships at The Hambidge Center for Arts & Sciences. She was a Teaching Artist in Residence at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Rabun Gap, GA, and the Ceramics Artist in Residence for the Dave Drake Studio at The Bascom Center for Visual Arts in Highlands, NC. Recently, LeAnn has shown work from her social practice project, Making Conversations, at Cross Draft Gallery in Orlando, FL and curated "The Women's Table" project at The Orlando Museum of Art.

LeAnn holds a B.A. in Studio Arts with a concentration in Oil Painting from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, and a Master’s Certificate in Social Justice from Harvard University. She studied Theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York City, and has furthered her ceramics education at Penland School of Craft, the Morean Center for Clay, and recently completed a kiln building workshop with Lisa Orr at her studio in Massachusetts.

LeAnn works out of her home studio and the City of Orlando’s Pottery Studio, and serves full time as the Corporate Relations Manager for United Arts of Central Florida. She is the organizer behind the Florida Claydies, and believes the region’s future is bright as a ceramics destination.
