Watercolor and Mixed Media Workshop

Looking for transformative ways to enhance your mixed media watercolor projects? Experiment with watercolor and mixed media using soft pastels, inks, colored pencils, and gesso. Bring other media you would like to add including stencils or collage to create an expressive and vibrant artwork. Focus is on color, textures, and new and exciting techniques.
Required:
Bring photos you have taken that you may wish to use for your painting;
Watercolor (Primary and Secondary colors blue); also bring your favorite colors
Palette for watercolor media
One sheet of watercolor paper 140 lb. cold press
Hardware masking tape to adhere to board
Water containers (2-3)
Synthetic brushes only (1/2 inch to 1 inch flat); medium to large round); script liner or rigger
White gel pen
Masking fluid
paper tape (hardware store 1 inch or wider)
Spray bottle
Optional - other media will be provided; however, bring what you prefer
Pastels - you may bring your own but pastels will be provided
Acrylic Inks - Inks will be provided
Stencils which can be used as a background for your painting
Deborah Umphrey
Originally from New Orleans, Deborah Gabriel Umphrey obtained a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of New Orleans. Later, after moving to Orlando, she earned a master’s in art education from the University of Central Florida and taught for several years in Seminole County schools, including Lake Brantley High School, as well as teaching drawing and painting to youth at the Casselberry Art House. Umphrey further developed herself as an artist through Crealdé School of Art’s Fellowship Program and was a Painting & Drawing Studio Artist in 2015. A Crealdé faculty member since 2022, she teaches both adult and youth classes and gives workshops at Crealdé. She is also a member of the Central Florida Watercolor Society and continues to exhibit her work at local galleries.
