Magical Layers in Acrylic Landscapes

Transform your landscapes into a rich tapestry of colors and textures by learning how to use layers of paint in your work. A variety of techniques will be introduced to create depth and dimension so you can take your art to the next level.

  • ACRYLIC PAINT (if you choose to use)
    Canvas, Canvas Boards or Bristol Paper to paint on.
    Brushes: At least 4 sizes, approximate sizes ¾” flat, ½” flat or filbert, ¼” round, and one detail thin brush. Brushes should be firm but soft. Synthetic brushes are great for acrylic.
    Acrylic Paints: titanium white, black, raw umber, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow deep, ultramarine blue, Prussian or phthalo blue, sap green, magenta, cadmium red, Alizarin crimson. (If you are starting with a set have at least, 1 white, 1 black, 1 brown, 1 yellow, 1 red, 1 blue, and 1 green)
    Palette with Lid- Buy one or use a large food container with a tight lid. Line it with aluminum foil for easy cleaning and use a wet sponge to keep your paints fresh.
    Pencil and eraser

    WATERCOLOR (if you choose to use)
    Watercolor Pad (Canson, Strathmore or Arches) Avoid store or children’s brands · Brushes: At least 4 sizes- approximate sizes ¾” flat, ½” round, ¼” round, and one detail thin brush. Buy Watercolor-specific brushes. · Watercolor paints can come in tubes, pans, or liquid form. If you are starting with a set have at least 10 colors, including black, brown, yellow, red, blue, green, orange, and purple) · Watercolor palette: pan sets come in their own palettes, but if you are buying tubes or liquid paints you must purchase a palette with wells or use a plastic egg carton to separate your colors. ·

Fabiola Hansen

An experienced and multi-faceted art educator, Fabiola Hansen is a welcomed inspiration to students of all ages that she teaches through Summer ArtCamp, and the outreach programs offered by Crealde School of Art, including the Hands-on-Art Sampler Classes at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center and Easter Seals Day-break Program at the Miller Center in Winter Park.  Hansen earned her B.A. in Art Education from the University of Central Florida and has been teaching at Crealde since 1998.  Throughout the years, Hansen has continued her own art studies, taking courses in Brazil, Italy and the Museum of Fine Art, Boston.  She has exhibited her work in art galleries throughout the United States and Brazil.  Locally her work has been exhibited at Casselberry City Hall, Orlando Science Center and Barnett Bank.
