Alexandres, Stefan
Stefan Alexandres

Born in Athens, Greece, Stefan is both a jeweler and a sculptor.  From 1964 to 1972, he apprenticed in metal arts in the traditional old-world methods guided by the organized guilds of Greece.  His formal training is based in the art of the Byzantine Greek Orthodox designs of crosses, chalices, incense burners, and religious icons.  He also learned his trade by creating handmade reproductions of archaic designs for the tourist trade, essential to the economy of Greece.  He immigrated to America in 1989 with his family.  Alexandres has traveled throughout Europe, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Mexico, and Panama.  For over 30 years, Stefan has worked as a metalsmith repousse artist and as department manager at the Medieval Times, "Medieval Life" Village folklore craft museum.  He performs metal craft, repousse demos, and conducts museum tours for the public.  As a freelance artist, he exhibits in national and international exhibitions in museums and galleries.  Since 2008, he has served as a faculty instructor at Crealde School of Art, teaching metal arts.
