This new intermediate level, 24-contact-hour course will introduce students to some of the classic themes in photography with technical instruction for film and digital, photographic history, and a series of extended field and studio sessions on Saturdays. Topics covered will include street photography, architecture, portrait, and studio. Through presentations on the history of photography, participants will be introduced to the masters in each specific genre. After each work session, the instructor will hold a formal review and discussion of the student’s work. Prerequisite: Photoshop & Lightroom PH258, Black & White Film Photo II PH239 or similar experience. *Class reviews Mondays: June 20, July 11, July 25 & August 1. Meets Saturdays for extended field & studio sessions: June 18, July 9, 23 & 30.

Casler, Chris

Guest Instructor | Photography Chris Casler is a live-action, architectural, advertising and editorial photographer based in Orlando. He studied view-camera and darkroom technique with Ansel Adams and Marie Cosindas, and he has photographed architecture and fine art for museums including the Smithsonian and Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Since the 1970s, his work has appeared in Architectural Digest, Time and Rolling Stone since the 1970s. Casler works on photography assignments and motion picture projects across the country and in Europe. He served for two years as president of the Greater Florida Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers.
