Class Description

Explore the timeless beauty of traditional, film-based black-and-white photography, including image selection, exposure and processing your own film and prints in Crealdé’s wet darkroom. This introductory course will cover basic camera controls and formats, film types, hands-on field trips, weekly assignments, print reviews and lots of fun time in the darkroom. Designed for students new to film photography and photographers who want to reconnect with this creative art form. Tuition includes lab fee, chemistry, and free loaner cameras. Prerequisites: Understanding of basic camera controls and functions. Skill Level: Beginner

Baker, John

John Baker

As a faculty member in the Photography Program, John Baker shares his love and knowledge of film photography in both youth and adult classes, guiding artists young and old in the processes of creating traditional black and white images from capture to print. A consummate exhibitor in and supporter of the Central Florida art scene and recipient of many best-in-show awards, Baker holds two B.A. degrees in Arts and Sciences from the University of Central Florida. He has served at Crealdé School of Art in varying capacities for two decades, and has a studio at FAVO in Orlando.

Crealdé does not accept deposits or partial payments for registrations. Early registration for classes or workshops are encouraged. Students using a gift certificate or account credit are to register in person or over the phone (407-671-1886).

Crealdé's refund and withdraw policies:
In order to maintain the quality of our programs, we have set a minimum number of students for our classes. Therefore, the following policies have been put in place for refunds, transfers, and withdraws.

Classes - A transfer or withdrawal request for a refund, transfer or account credit must be requested 7 days prior to the first day of the session by contacting the main office. Please contact us by telephone at 407-671-1886 or e-mail at lmcbryde@crealde.org during normal business hours. Any requests made 7 days or less before the first day of the session are not eligible for credit or a refund.

Class credits expire after one year.

These policies apply regardless of attendance status.

Workshops - All workshops registration deadlines are at least one week prior to the workshop date*. *Registration deadlines for visiting artists workshops will vary. Please see workshops description for registration deadlines. If withdraw is made prior to registration deadline, student is eligible for a full refund. No refunds or credits will be made after the workshop registration deadline.

ArtCamp is non-refundable upon registration. No refunds or credits will be processed after registration.
