Beginning Portrait Drawing

Learn the basics of drawing portraits using pencil and charcoal techniques. Focusing first on proportions, measurements and anatomy, students will then experiment with rub-out and cross-hatch techniques to create tonal studies. Students will begin working from photographs provided by the instructor, but may choose their own photographs as the class progresses. Skill level: Beginner
- Bring a drawing pad and graphite pencil to the first class.
Wendi Zlamal
Wendi Zlamal is an Orlando based portrait artist with 17 years of experience. She won Best of Show in 2012 Seminole State College Student Show and an Award of Merit from Orlando Museum of Art. Her artwork is included in many private collections and she continues study in her craft at Southern Atelier under founder Charles Miano.
