Always wanted to quilt, but didn’t know how to get started? Learn the basic steps of quilting. Explore fabric choices, quilting supplies, rotary cutting and more. Participants learn the art of piecing patchwork blocks and matching points.

  • Class is held in the 2nd Floor Studio at Crealdé School of Art's Hannibal Square Heritage Center, 642 W. New England Ave, Winter Park 32789.
  • Sewing machine (you may bring your preferred machine or learn on a machine provided)
  • 24 x 6.5 rotary cutting rulers. Best creative Grids. ( will have a few available in classroom)
  • Rotary cutter 45mm (Dritz brand preferred)
  • Glass head pins.
  • Good quality 8” fabric scissors.
  • Seam ripper
  • 100 % cotton Neutral color thread.
  • 9/ -½ yard cuts of assorted 100% good quality quilting cotton fabric. One of the fabrics should be a pop of color. Or for a scrappy quilt 18 assorted fat quarters. (A fat quarter is a piece fabric cut 18x22 inches.)
  • 1 package of full-size batting (90x108inches) 100% or 80/20 blend cotton bonded or needle.

After working more than 25 years in social service, Sherry Goode-Carmell opened a home-based sewing and quilting studio and has been teaching all areas of sewing and quilting, as well as being a longarm quilter for more than six years. She has made many dozens of quilts and longarmed even more. Commissions include the Seminole County Centennial Celebration. She was the chairperson for the Geneva Quilt Festival and is a member of many sewing and quilt guilds.
