Amy Ohlson
Amy Hartmann-Ohlson grew up in a family that embraced art, and her earliest memories are filled with creative exploration. She earned a BFA in ceramics from Mason Gross School of the Arts and a Masters in Art Education from Kean. Currently, she is enjoying her 10th year as an elementary art teacher in the Manville School district.
Amy finds inspiration in childhood memories, the calligraphy of ancient texts, colors, textures, and shapes from the natural world, as well as contemporary paintings. Her artistic pursuits expand beyond ceramics, as she continues to play and learn about fiber arts and suminagashi (Japanese marbled ink). This ongoing exploration reflects her commitment to evolving as an artist.
Apart from her artistic endeavors, Amy has a long-lasting companionship with her high school sweetheart, spanning almost 30 years. They live happily together in Somerset County with their three children.
