321-Watercolor Sunflowers
In Person | This class is completed
It’s always sunny when there is a sunflower in the room. We will paint a single sunflower as well as sunflowers in a landscape. Learn to paint flowers that breathe. Techniques include painting wet in wet, the pressure stroke, negative painting and spattering. Novice to advanced.
• 140 lb cold press Arches WATERCOLOR PAPER, cut or torn to 11 x 15” or a
9 x 12” cold press block. A small watercolor sketchbook is handy for
experimenting and taking notes. I use a Canson Montval Field Watercolor
ArtBook, 7 x 10”.
• Nos. 8, 10 and 12 round brushes. Sable is the ideal but it’s very expensive.
My current favorite brand is Silver Black Velvet. They are a mix of squirrel
and synthetic. The squirrel holds the water and the synthetic fibers spring
back after the stroke.
Winsor & Newton, Sennilier, Holbein, and Daniel Smith are all excellent
watercolor brands. If you are new to watercolor and are not ready to make an
investment in professional paint, use W&N Cotman paint.
