In this class, students will have the chance to learn about the principles of character and environment design in anime and manga. We'll explore a different topic each week along with different design inspirations from various titles which will allow students to create their own original works and will culminate in either manga style comic panels or a pitch deck-style presentation of the world and characters. It's a great chance to dive into the world of anime and manga in a collaborative and friendly environment and create something new!

This class is open to students age 16 and above!
NOTE: There is no class on 4/24.

Week 1 | April 3rd: Designing characters and brainstorming ideas. Each student gets to design and finalize one or two characters and we will brainstorm ideas for worlds and stories their characters can inhabit.

Week 2 | April 10th: Storytelling lecture. We go over the principles of storytelling and story structure and students can work collaboratively to generate ideas for a short manga story or pitch deck presentation about their original world.

Week 3 | April 17th: Environment art. Each student gets to design and finalize one piece of environment art. Additionally, students should be able to commit to at least one idea.

Week 4 | May 1st: Prop art. Each student gets to design and finalize multiple props for characters in their worlds to use.

Week 5 | May 8th: With character art, story, environment and prop art all determined, students start work on their short manga comic book story or pitch deck.
