Country Landscapes in Autumn are all about warm vibrant colors set off by cool greens and neutrals. Learn to use pure pigment for maximum effect. Techniques include wet in wet, negative painting, spattering and using brush alternatives. This is a studio class is for all levels.
- BRUSHES - A good watercolor brush holds water and comes to a point. Current favorite brand is Silver Black Velvet, a mix of squirrel and synthetic. Not expensive!
For this workshop we’ll use:
• Nos. 8, 10, 12 rounds.
• 3/4 - 1” Oval or flat.
•A #10 synthetic round. Instructor uses Loew Cornell.
•A rigger brush, no. 6 or 8. Any brand.
• Flat bristle brush, 1/2, 3/4 or 1”. Any brand.
PAPER – 140 lb. Arches cold press. You can buy a 9 x 12” block, or buy a sheet and quarter it to 15 x 11”.

PAINT – (Tube colors.) Good brands are Winsor & Newton, Holbein, Sennelier and Daniel Smith. If you’re new to watercolor, buy Cotman. Colors: Cadmium Yellow, Raw Sienna (or Yellow Ochre), Quinacridone Gold, Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Red, Permanent Rose (or Carmine), Alizarin Crimson, Mineral Violet (or Violet), French Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue (or Cobalt Turquoise Light), Cobalt Blue. And a green. Your choice.
