This class will highlight techniques and materials employed by artists who feel confident in their abilities and wish to further their skills. They will observe the intricate subtleties of details, textures and value contrasts with the intent of producing a highly realistic finished composition. Through the employment of reference photographs the procedures will closely replicate those employed by established photorealistic artists.

  • All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Policies and Procedures.

  • A:  full range 2H-9B pencil set

    B: 1 BLACKWING black matte pencil

    C: 1 9XXB KIMBERLY pencil

    D: 1 ivory black CARAN D’ACHE aquarelle ivory black pencil

    E: 11x14 hot press 108 lb. drawing press…this is very flexible. The pad must at least contain hot press ( smooth ) paper sheets and paper not much lighter than ~100 lbs.

    F: 1 kneaded eraser

    H:1TOMBOW MONO ZERO ROUND eraser

    I: 1 sandpaper pencil sharpener

    J: 1 retractable blade cutter (or comparable tool).

    K: 1 or more high resolution portrait photograph and two or more 11x14 photocopies of said photograph printed on THIN photo copy paper, NOT on glossy heavy photo paper.

    L: 1 colorless blending pencil

    M: a variety of thin, medium and thick blending stumps

     

    Although the listed supplies are highly recommended, a set of 2H-9B pencils  should address the basic needs of the class.
