242-Using Negative Space in Watercolor
Adult Workshop | This class has been canceled
Learn how to recognize and use negative space to improve the impact of the subjects of your watercolor painting. In addition, learn how successive layering of paint can add depth and interest to your work. This workshop is suitable for all levels.
- We will be working from reference photos to paint a picture similar to the example on the website. Please feel free to bring in any reference photos you may have.
- The process includes several layers of washes, therefore a good quality watercolor paper is best. Instructor recommends 140 lb cold press 100% cotton paper, 9” x 12” or larger for this workshop. If not using a watercolor block, bring the paper taped to a mounting board.
- Pointed round brushes: one large in size 10 or 12, one smaller size 4 or 5
Toilet tissue for blotting & lifting
HB Pencil
- Eraser
Several sheets of drawing or printer paper for practice sketches
Paint - Bring your favorite colors. Instructor suggests the following at a minimum:
Warm and cool yellow (1 each) - yellow ocher and quinacridone gold
Warm and cool red
Warm and cool blue
Winsor violet or dioxazine purple
Sap green
Viridian green or chromium oxide green
Raw sienna
