230-Afternoon Wheel Throwing and Handbuilding-IN PERSON

Adult Class | This class is completed

This class introduces both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques step-by-step, opening the way for individual expression and success in clay. The instructor discusses the production of three-dimensional forms, firing, and glazes. In addition students learn more about using surface design and texture. Those with more experience are shown additional techniques to incorporate into their work. Weekly demonstrations are given.

The Center has a wheelchair accessible pottery wheel in our ceramics studio. If you would like more information, please call 908-234-2345.

    In the event of a closure due to the COVID-19 virus, this class will move online using ZOOM. There will be no refunds or credits for classes that were scheduled to take place on-site but were moved to an online format for health and safety purposes.


  • Students require a basic pottery tool kit and clay. Students may purchase a set of tools from The Center or bring their own. Clay must be bought from The Center.
Reinking, John
John Reinking

John Reinking is a functional and sculptural ceramicist living and working in Pittstown, NJ. A graduate of Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts, he also earned his MFA at Marywood University in Scranton, PA. John is currently an Adjunct Professor of Ceramics at Raritan Valley Community College, as well as the Ceramics Program Director at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster. He is currently represented by Peter's Valley Craft Center in Layton, NJ, the Connections Gallery in Easton, PA, Creative Hands Gallery in Cape Cod, MA, and the Charlie Cummings Gallery in Gainesville, FL. 

His work has been exhibited at various venues across the country and most recently at Peter's Valley Craft Center in Layton, NJ and at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster.
