Experience the magic that is wet felting! This beginner wet felting workshop will encourage students to play with color and design while creating their own watercolor-like painting using wool as their medium. Wet felting uses only soap, water and agitation to turn wool fibers into solid felt fabric. Careful layout of colored wool allows students to create a textile with a painterly look. Students will be guided through the steps of creating their layout, wet felting and multiple finishing techniques. Learn to layer and blend colored wool, and other fibers to achieve shading, color and texture affects. Students can decide to frame their finished piece, hang it as a wall hanging or even sew their painting into a pillow!

Note on Health & Safety Policy:

Katko - DUPLICATE, Kerstin

Kerstin Katko is a fiber artist and instructor with a studio in Long Valley, New Jersey. She works with a range of textile processes including felting, dyeing, surface design and fiber manipulation. Her current focus is on felting wool-both through wet felting and needle felting techniques. An avid gardener, she enjoys incorporating the environment around her in her work, as raw material, natural dye and as inspiration. She is continually intrigued by the architecture of nature-the patterns and building blocks of the natural world, as well as the constructions of insects, birds and other creatures.
