Students will learn all aspects of acrylic painting techniques including color mixing, brush use, arranging paint on the palette, and composing the subject matter on the canvas. Students will work from still life arrangements and photographs.

  • Supplies:
  • -Canvases or canvas boards (about 11” x 14”) - Watercolor paper (140lb) also an option to use instead of canvas, but you would need a drawing board and masking tape to tape the paper down.
  • -Acrylic Paint Set
  • -Synthetic brushes of various sizes
  • -Butcher tray palette OR paper/plastic plates
  • -plastic palette knives (optional)
  • -2 jars/containers for water
  • -graphite pencils
  • -eraser
  • -sketch pad
  • -photo reference for something you would like to paint (i.e. landscape, portrait, pet portrait, etc.)
