Students will gain a broad understanding of the core areas of drawing using both black and white and color media. Topics such as color, light/shadow, composition, perspective, portraiture, texture, and more will be discussed and executed through demonstrations and step-by-step exercises led by the instructor. These classes are great for beginners as well as artists looking to freshen up their skills in a range of areas.

  • **Please note that this class will now start May 22 and end June 19.
  • Vine charcoal
  • Compressed charcoal
  • Compressed charcoal pencils
  • Erasers ( both hard and kneaded)
  • A range of graphite pencils (hb, 2b, 4b, 6b)
  • Drawing pad (11 x 14)
  • A colored media of your choosing. Watercolor or dry pastel is suggested. Demos will be in those media.
  • (For pastel I suggest Prismacolor “nupastels” and 'PastelMat' paper )
  • (For watercolor I suggest 140 to 300 pound cold pressed paper, soft sable or synthetic brushes, and if just starting out, get a set of a variety of tubed watercolors to be squirt into a travel palette with wells)
