This course takes a closer look at the SNAP budgeting process and how to maximize benefits for older adults and those on disability benefits. We will also cover immigrant budgeting when there are members who meet the SNAP requirement and those who do not. There will be interactive case examples utilizing the SNAP budgeting worksheet for all case examples and Q&A.
Please note this course will NOT go into immigrants’ eligibility for SNAP; this topic is covered in Checking Out the SNAP Program.
This is an advanced course; eligibility and application for SNAP is NOT covered. Checking Out the SNAP Program is a recommended prerequisite.
Target Audience: Social service and legal professionals who assist families and individuals with limited income in navigating SNAP benefits.

Leslie Bailey
Director of Training, Benefits Plus Learning Center
Leslie Bailey, specializing in public benefit programs for over 25 years, oversees all aspects of the Benefits Plus Learning Center training program; from facilitating courses, to designing new courses to the implementation of the continuing education program. She focuses on cash benefit programs such as SSI, SSDI and Cash Assistance and food programs, as well as programs that provide support to working families like child care.
She has authored several chapters for the Learning Center’s premier publication Benefits Plus Online.
Leslie began her career providing benefit counseling to low-income families and individuals. She holds a social work degree from Lehman College.
