Gain the tools and knowledge to ensure clients receive the benefits they are entitled through this course. Learn how to assess a client’s situation by gathering relevant information, developing a time-line and determining the best plan of action. Discover how to resolve common problems, such as improper notification, missed appointments, lost documentation, etc. This course will also introduce you to several welfare lawsuits that will help your clients find relief while the Courts decide challenges brought by welfare attorneys. Included are helpful resources, agency contacts, and a brief description of the fair hearing process.

Director of Training, Benefits Plus Learning Center

Leslie Bailey, specializing in public benefit programs for over 25 years, oversees all aspects of the Benefits Plus Learning Center training program; from facilitating courses, to designing new courses to the implementation of the continuing education program. She focuses on cash benefit programs such as SSI, SSDI and Cash Assistance and food programs, as well as programs that provide support to working families like child care.

She has authored several chapters for the Learning Center’s premier publication Benefits Plus Online. Leslie began her career providing benefit counseling to low-income families and individuals. She holds a social work degree from Lehman College. .
