The Painted Paper Collage Lab- Session 1
A Dare to Create Program
The Painted Paper Collage Lab is a joyful, exploratory workshop series where students learn to “make something out of nothing.” Using hand-painted papers, translucent scraps, black-and-white ink studies, and monoprints. Participants discover how torn edges, leftover fragments, and simple marks can become expressive, layered works of art.
Inspired by the gentle philosophy of Kintsugi—repairing and honoring what was once broken—this series blends creativity with self-care, emotional intelligence, and playful experimentation.
Each week introduces new painted-paper techniques and collage methods that help students build confidence, trust their intuition, and create vibrant, meaningful pieces from the simplest materials.
Students will work with a wide range of collage materials, including hand-painted papers, deli paper, translucent tissue, monoprints, black-and-white ink studies, sepia washes, and textured scraps.
Techniques include intuitive mark-making, glazing, pattern building, botanical shapes, tearing and cutting methods, and mono - printing to create a rich stack of unique papers.
