DARE TO BE STILL
A Meditation and Mindfulness Program for People Who Think They Cannot Meditate
Dare to Be Still is a five-week meditation and mindfulness program designed specifically for stressed, anxious, and resistant-to-self-care adults who are curious about meditation but convinced it is not for them. The program begins where participants actually are — overscheduled, skeptical, and carrying the persistent belief that their minds are too busy to be still — and treats that not as a barrier but as the perfect starting point.
Each session builds systematically from the neuroscience of meditation (why the brain and body want this, explained plainly and without preaching) through the core sitting practice and its most important reframe (the goal is not a still mind — it is a watchful one), across a bridge into mindfulness as a way of moving through an ordinary day, and toward a fully personal practice that participants design for themselves and take home for life. The program’s philosophy is deliberately non-rigid: while research places the sweet spot of formal meditation at 15–20 minutes, some participants will begin with five. Both are a real practice.
Brief, practical, and designed for a busy life. No special cushion required. No spiritual disposition necessary. Just the willingness to show up five times and find out what happens when you pause.
By the final session, participants have both a formal sitting practice and a rich personal menu of mindfulness habits for the rest of their day — what the program calls fireflies: brief, luminous moments of presence scattered through ordinary time. The promise is modest and honest: not transformation, not serenity, not a silent mind. Just a practice that is genuinely and sustainably theirs.
