Introduction to Pottery Wheel (Monday PM Class)

Curious about trying the pottery wheel? This 10-week introductory class is the perfect place to start!

Designed for beginners, you'll learn the basics of wheel throwing, including how to center clay, create simple forms, and develop the foundational skills needed to make functional pottery. Along the way, you'll also learn about clay preparation, trimming, glazing, and the firing process, giving you a complete introduction to creating pottery from start to finish.

No prior experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to get your hands muddy! This class offers a relaxed and supportive environment where you'll build confidence, practice new skills, and enjoy the creative process.



  • Introduction to the Pottery Wheel
    Meets 1x on Mondays, 6PM-9PM
    Starts September 14th, 2026 - November 16th, 2026
    (10 Classes, 30 Hours Total)

    • 1, 25 lbs. of clay is included in the cost of this class. Additional clay may be purchased. 
    • Use of studio glazes and firing is included in the cost of this class as well.
    • Please do not bring other clay or glazes into the studio.  We cannot fire other work done outside the CCAA studio. 
    • CCAA fires to Cones 6, using Standard stoneware clay. 
    • CCAA has community clay tools that can be borrowed during class time.  Speak with your instructor for recommendations if you would like to purchase your own tools.  
    • Clay is fun, but can get messy! Please bring an apron and/or towel for each class.
