Introduction to Cyanotype (Saturday, 7/26/25)
Workshop | Available
Join me for a one-day workshop, where we’ll delve into the art of cyanotype, a 19th-century printing technique. You don't need a camera for this workshop, and it’s suitable for artists and photographers alike.
Our day begins by discussing how we can use cyanotype light-sensitive chemicals to make prints and photograms using various techniques and overlays. Then, in a hands-on session, we’ll mix two chemicals together to make a light-sensitive emulsion. This emulsion will be carefully painted onto watercolor paper, followed by exposure to UV (sun) light using various materials or objects of your choice. After exposure, the prints will undergo development through washing.
You’ll walk away from this workshop with the knowledge and confidence necessary to make your own cyanotype prints at home or in your own studio.
- Please Note:
- An additional Materials Fee of $5. is required to cover the cost of paper and chemicals. Please pay instructor at the start of the workshop.
- Bring in any plants or semi-transparent objects you would like to use for cyanotype.
All other materials will be provided.
