Room with a View- Understanding and Exploring Interior Space
Class | Available
New Drawing Class!
This brand new offering will use the CCAA Studio to make drawings of interior spaces including doorways, the hallway or views outside the windows. Although not a still-life class, objects such as tables and chairs will be part of the composition for the purpose of scale. A sense of atmosphere will be achieved by experimenting with different types of light- both natural and man made and discussing the challenges of achieving three dimensional space on a two dimensional surface.
We will look at the work of Johannes Vermeer (Dutch 1632-1675), Giovanni Piranesi (Italian 1720-1778), Van Gough and also more contemporary artists like Fairfield Porter, Louis Dodd and Richard Diebenkorn.
Please Note: This is not a class in classical perspective, its about looking and making the art your own.
This subject mater is a part of art history. Come draw and let's continue the tradition!
Intermediate Level.

- Pencils
Buying drawing pencils can be a bit confusing as they are lettered and numbered , H and B "H" is a harder lead and "B" a softer lead. The numbers refer to the strength of the lead: thus a 6 B will offer a softer effect than a 2H ( we will review this in class) That being said the brand Generals makes a nice drawing set including pencils and graphite sicks and perhaps erasers.
