Oil Still Life- Focus on Fruit

NEW Oil Painting Class! We will focus on learning techniques to create a single fruit (or vegetable) still life of your choice with the option to paint a more involved still life with additional fruit and objects. We will review composition via set-up, color balancing and lighting to enhance form and shadows along with tips to set up a still life box for painting at home.
Individual attention will be given.
Students may bring their choice of a single piece of fruit or preferred still life set up.
- -One 8" X 8" or 12" X 12" canvas or 8" X 10" or 9" X 12".
Note: Larger canvases are best for a multiple fruit and/or object still life - use your own judgement as to what size will best suit your fruit (& items) painted life size.

CANVASES: At least two quality stretched pre-primed canvas such as BLICK Premier Traditional Profile in square for single items of fruit 8" X 8", 12" X 12" or rectangle for longer items of fruit or vegetables 8" X 10", 9” X 12”, with 11” X 14” or larger if painting more than a single fruit. Aim for sizes to accommodate painting your items life size.
ARTIST’S QUALITY PAINTS**: (M. Graham or Winsor Newton is most affordable. Michael Harding, Williamsburg and Old Holland brands are great, Vasari is the ultimate and most expensive, although it will outlast others - Avoid Utretch) Water soluble paints are discouraged - contact me if any questions.
LIMITED PALETTE MUST HAVE COLORS: If you prefer not to invest in additional paints at this time, the colors below will allow you to mix colors with a “Limited Palette.”

Essential for blending: Rosemary.com MUNDY MOP 3/8" goat hair brush. ADD the larger size if you work large. (Mundy Mops come in five sizes.)
OPTIONAL: 2 or 3” brush for applying (acrylic) GESSO Add a smaller pointed round for smaller details unless you work loose. Choose other Rosemary brushes to your preference as long as they are for oil painting.
