Hands, Feet and Drapery in Charcoal

Class | This class is completed

In order to draw the hands and feet correctly we will be working from casts, models, photographs and books. Emphasis will be on gaining a working knowledge of the internal structure of the bones that make up the framework of the hands and feet, and the key muscles. We will also explore various styles of drawing hands and feet as well as study from past masters such as Bougerough, Rockwell and others. Emphasis will also be placed on learning to stage hands for illustration and fine art. The second part of the term we will focus on the seven basic folds. We will begin with academic study of the "anatomy" of the fold and learn when and why they occur. Moving on we will learn to observe the way the folds are formed in a more "real world" situation as well as how to redesign these folds for better effect and composition. This class is a must fundamental drawing class.
