This sequence is a follow up to Drawing Fundamentals, and teaches the student the mechanics of using color with the choice of 4 different media: colored pencils, pastel, acrylic or oil paint. In each media there is a focus on transitioning visual thinking in black and white to the rich nuances of color, while practicing how to render form in space using light, shadow, and its relationship to value.
Each media is offered as 6 classes in Level 1 and 2. In Level 1, students are introduced to the prismatic wheel, layering and mixing color, and using color compositionally. Level 2 deepens the practice in the chosen media, further exploring these concepts, as well as developing shallow and deep pictorial space, focal point and narrative.
